We're making a video of us singing "Spirit of Life"! I'd love for you to send me a video of you singing the song and I'll put all of our videos together into one beautiful music video.

It won't be difficult for you to record yourself.. All you need is 2 devices (cell phone/computer), one device to record and one device to playback, and ear buds or headphones.

Plug your ear buds/earphones into your plackback device and put them in/on one ear.

Set up your recording device:

a. At eye level

b. Light your face well (lamps or sunlight through a window) with no lights behind you.

c. Frame yourself from your shoulders to to a few inches over your head. If you can’t see what your device can see, do a test recording, and watch it to see your framing. If you’re filming in front of a wall, stand about 1 ft away from it. Record in Portrait mode (vertical) not Landscape (horizontal). Try to record in a quiet room.

d. You can record in Zoom or a video camera app.

First start your video recording and then start the guide track

Sing along with the Guide Track. Important: Extra tips to help sell your video:

a. Use your hands to highlight downbeats, moments, or rhythms that you’re singing.

b. Move your body/shoulders/head up and down if your part moves up and down, or if you have long held notes that change.

c. Emote the feeling of the song! Smile! Watching someone sit/stand still and move only their mouth is not very exciting! If you know the sign language for the song you could even do that.

d. When the song finishes, look directly at your recording device with a great sense of accomplishment and pride, and wait there 10 seconds before you stop the recording.

Here's a recording of the Guide Track with 4-part harmony

And here's a recording of the guide track with just the melody:

Spirit of Life melody only(5).mp3

Here are the lyrics and the sheet music:

Spirit of Life, come unto me.

Sing in my heart all the stirrings of compassion.

Blow in the wind, rise in the sea;

move in the hand, giving life the shape of justice.

Roots hold me close; wings set me free;

Spirit of Life, come to me, come to me.
